The Early Years Conference: Using the Arts for Children’s Wellbeing

Tuesday 2nd July 10am – 1pm online via Zoom

Join us for The Early Years Conference: Using the Arts for Children’s Wellbeing on Tuesday 2nd July 10am – 1pm online via Zoom.

This activity is part of Tuneful Chatter, funded by Arts Council England Place Partnerships and City of Doncaster Council, working with evaluation partners Sheffield Hallam University and the National Literacy Trust.

Tuneful Chatter is a joyful, inspiring programme of creative activity responding directly to the pandemic’s detrimental impact on Doncaster 0–5-year-olds - supporting children to explore, learn and connect, while recognising additional needs and a range of abilities. Experienced artists deliver playful weekly sessions using movement, music and drama to improve communication, language, social, emotional and behavioural skills; enabling children to catch up on essential development. Sessions currently take place in 12 settings including Family Hubs, Nurseries, EYFS schools and cultural venues.

Building on our 2022 pilot, and using proven approaches, Tuneful Chatter bridges the gap in opportunities for personal, social and emotional development (PSED) engendered by the pandemic. Parents and carers gain creative tools and activities they can use at home, sustaining the experiences and impacts of Tuneful Chatter. Teachers and early years practitioners are collaborating with artists to broaden their skills, co-plan and co-deliver activity so knowledge and experienced is shared and sustained long-term.

Join us for an informative and inspiring day of discussions and networking, with keynote speakers Dr Eunice Lumsden & Samantha Weeks.
